Kim Kardashian opts for a fleet of wedding cars

Monday, July 4th, 2011

At many weddings, the bride will arrive in a spectacular car and Kim Kardashian plans on being no different. However, unlike other brides, she has gone a step further and not only will she be arriving in a Rolls-Royce Phantom, so will everyone else.

Kardashian is planning on having a whole fleet of luxury cars at her disposal to deliver people to the wedding venue. Her entire family as well as that of Kris Humphries, the groom, will all travel in style.

Furthermore, Kardashian plans on having the cars colour coordinated. In short, she only wants to have white vehicles. Each one will also be chauffeur-driven to complete the experience.

You might not have the cash to stretch to multiple Phantoms, but your wedding is perhaps the most special day of your life, so it warrants a bit of extra expense. At the very least, the bride should be chauffeur driven in one of the world’s finest cars.

You don’t need to buy the vehicle in question, after all, merely hire it for the day. Kardashian knows that there is no finer car than a Rolls-Royce Phantom and having one for your wedding is perfectly possible.

Hire a wedding car if you don’t feel like travelling by bus

Saturday, June 25th, 2011

Most people will look towards the luxury cars of this world when they consider what car to hire for a wedding – perhaps a Rolls-Royce Phantom or maybe a Bentley Flying Spur. Other people look to other forms of transportation.

We’ve heard stories of people arriving for weddings on tractors before now, but how about by bus? The wedding of Lee and Dawn Francis was notable for the fact that the groom, his parents, his best man and many of the guests arrived on a red double-decker.

That may have been acceptable for the groom, but clearly not for the bride. Dawn opted for a vintage car for her ride.

Explaining his decision, Lee said:

“Originally I wanted the Back to the Future car, but when we started totting it all up, including cars for the bridesmaids and everything, it all added up. I said ‘I bet we can get a London bus for that’ so we looked into it.”

Just like any other bus, this one made a number of stops, picking up guests along the way. The bus was then used to take everybody to the reception venue after the ceremony.

A fleet of tractors used as wedding cars

Wednesday, June 15th, 2011

Your choice of wedding car has a major impact on how the big day pans out. The vehicle in which the bride arrives sets the tone for the day. If she turns up in a Rolls Royce Phantom, you know that no expense has been spared. So what if she arrives in a John Deere tractor?

An Australian couple from South Gippsland spurned Maybachs and Bentley Flying Spurs recently in favour of an entire fleet of tractors. Shane Uren is a farmer and the wedding took place on the bride’s family’s farm. Kirsty Hams is a teacher, but arrived on one of four green and yellow tractors.

The ceremony itself took place in a field and the wedding march didn’t feature, instead being replaced by the Kenny Chesney song, She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy. The farming theme continued at the reception with the wedding cake also featuring a tractor.

For non-farmers – and farmers who want to get away from their day job on their wedding day – there are plenty of cars available for wedding hire. Plus, a chauffeur will turn up to collect you in the car of your choice, meaning you can relax as much as your nerves will allow on the way to the wedding venue.

Wedding cars fit for royalty

Friday, May 6th, 2011

If you want to have a wedding car fit for royalty, you can now make your choice with some certainty. The royal wedding allowed us to know exactly what they would go for.

British cars were the order of the day at the royal wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William. Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, arrived at Westminster Abbey in a 1950 Rolls-Royce Phantom IV that was purpose built for the Queen. While there only 17 other examples of this particular model, the Phantom is still being built today and you could certainly hire one for your wedding.

You could also get a Bentley and two custom Bentleys were what brought the Queen and Prince Philip and Princes William and Harry to the venue. The bride’s mother and brother arrived in another British car, the Jaguar XJL.

Later in the day, Prince William borrowed Prince Charles’ 1969 Aston Martin DB6 Volante MKII to take Kate Middleton for a drive. This particular car has been converted to run on ethanol made from wine as a result of its owner’s ecological awareness.

Pick a wedding car for the BT couple

Monday, April 11th, 2011

The BT ad campaign involving actors Kris Marshall and Esther Hall, who play Adam and Jane, has been going on for some time now – six years, in fact. Detailing various stages in their relationship, the two characters are now to marry and the public are able to vote as to how elements of their wedding will be portrayed.

As well as choosing Jane’s dress and the music for the first dance, it was possible to vote for which wedding car the bride would arrive in. Would it be a Rolls-Royce Phantom or a Bentley Flying Spur? Over half a million people have voted about the various elements and the results will be revealed when the next ad comes to our TV screens.

Clearly people care about these details even if they’re only relevant to fictional characters who appear in advertisements, so when the wedding is a little closer to home, it’s only natural that we put a lot of thought into our decisions.

If you’re due to get married, there are many different wedding cars from which to choose. Don’t rush the decision. Make sure you get the car that you will be most happy with.

A tractor for a wedding car?

Friday, April 8th, 2011

When we think of wedding cars, we tend to think of Rolls-Royce Phantoms or Bentley Continental Flying Spurs. Very few of us will think of tractors.

That’s not to say it’s not some people’s idea of wedding transportation, however. A farmer from Hyde in Greater Manchester certainly thought it was the right vehicle and actually went so far as to theme his entire wedding around farm life.

Mark Hazlehurst’s new bride, Katie Brayshaw, said:

“Right from the start Mark said he’d be going on a tractor and it didn’t really surprise me. He just loves his job. I have horses and we live on a farm so we thought it would be nice. It’s not every day you see a tractor at a church.”

As well as the especially gleaming Valtra T-series tractor, the wedding also featured wellies and milk churns as receptacles for flowers. The cake had sheep dogs, horses and quad bikes on it and the guests’ tables were named after breeds of cows or sheep.

For a more conventional – and perhaps more luxurious – car for your wedding, get in touch with a wedding car hire company and arrange to be chauffeur driven in a little more style and comfort.

Rolls-Royce Phantom Chosen as Kate’s Car for Royal Wedding

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Kate Middleton has chosen a Rolls-Royce Phantom VI as the car that will take her and her father to Westminster Abbey on April 29.

She has decided to arrive as a ‘commoner’ in the Rolls and leave the Abbey in the same coach that carried Diana and Charles after their wedding.

And yet, this is no ordinary car. It was given to the Queen in 1977 as a present to mark her Silver Jubilee, and is worth more than £1 million. It is 20ft long, weighs 2.5 tons and is one of only 374 ever made.

A distinctive claret and black, the Rolls also has large windows, and this is apparently what prompted Kate to choose it, as it will give the public the best view of the bride and her father as they travel to the ceremony.

The car was used for Charles’ marriage to Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, in 2005. It also happens to be the car they were using in December last year, when they were caught up in the student protests. The car was attacked in the incident and suffered a broken window and battered bodywork, which are still being repaired at the moment.

Buckingham Palace’s transport manager has confirmed that the car will be repaired in time to make a comeback for the Royal Wedding this April.

Wedding car appeal lands couple a Bristol 410

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011

Most people have an idea what car they would like for their wedding. Perhaps it’s a Maybach. Perhaps it’s a Rolls-Royce Phantom. In Robert Baker’s case, he had his heart set on a Bristol, but as a self-employed builder, he couldn’t afford the £50,000 it would have cost to buy one.

Instead, he made an appeal in his local newspaper to see if anyone in the area had one that they might consider loaning him for the day. Fortunately for him, Robert Hathaway had a 1968 Bristol 410 and was happy to drive the bride to the wedding in it.

The groom was delighted, saying:

“I was so pleased when Robert got in touch. The car will be a real head turner on the day.”

He describes cars as being ‘pure luxury’ and admits he has been in love with them since he first saw one at the age of 10.

Bristol hand built their luxury cars from 1946 at a factory in the town of the same name. However, in sad news, administrators have recently been called in after the firm has been forced to lose 300 staff in two years.

An unconventional wedding car for an unconventional wedding

Monday, March 7th, 2011

When you think of a wedding care, what do you think of? A Rolls-Royce Phantom, perhaps? You probably don’t think of Benny the Cab out of Who Framed Roger Rabbit? This is largely because Benny the Cab is a cartoon character.

Nevertheless, this was the car chosen for their wedding day by Nyssa and Robert Taverner from Worcester and they had a car specially decorated to reproduce Benny’s look.

In fact, the car was entirely in keeping with the rest of the wedding, which had a cartoon theme. Nyssa was married as Jessica Rabbit from the same film, while Robert was dressed as Clarke Kent. Betty Boop, the Incredible Hulk and Tweetie Pie were some of the various guests in attendance.

The unconventional approach even extended to the music, with Nyssa walking down the aisle to the Star Wars theme tune.

There are no set rules when it comes to organising a wedding, but for many people, the traditions are a large part of what they look forward to when they become engaged. For those people, it is more about a white dress, flowers and arriving at the church in a chauffeur-driven car.
