Do you fancy some tickets for Olympic football at Wembley?

Monday, October 31st, 2011

As part of next summer’s Olympic Games, Wembley will be hosting a series of football matches. There was a battle for many of the Olympic tickets when they went on sale, with many people ending up disappointed. However, football tickets won’t be available until later in the year, so you’re still in with a chance.

Should you be successful, you should make the most of a historic occasion by hiring a chauffeur driven car to take you to the ground and back. After all, the last time the Olympics were in the UK, Wembley saw 85,000 people descend on it. It was 1948 – the first Games after the war.

Great Britain won bronze in that year with the team being managed by Sir Matt Busby. In 2012, Stuart Pearce will coach the men and Hope Powell the women.

The rules for the men’s competition stipulate that players must be under-23 with three exceptions and there has been talk that David Beckham might be one of the three. A step removed from club rivalries these days, the midfielder can see how enticing it would be to compete in an Olympic games. It is a chance to be part of history for the players as well as the fans.

Waking Up The Neighbours by limo

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

That title isn’t advocating a particularly luxurious form of noise pollution, it’s a Bryan Adams reference. The Canadian rock star is to perform at the O2 Arena on Thursday the 8th of December in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the release of his triple platinum selling album, Waking Up The Neighbours.

This is no acoustic set. Adams is bring a full band for the show and it’s not to be missed. If you haven’t got tickets already, don’t delay. You can then also book your limo for the night to ensure comfortable travel to and from the concert.

In the UK, Adams is still best known for his record-breaking single (Everything I Do) I Do It For You, which is hardly surprising when you consider that it was top of the charts for 16 weeks. That was partly as a result of it featuring in the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, which starred Kevin Costner. It sold around 10m copies worldwide – one of the biggest selling singles of all time.

That song appears on Waking Up The Neighbours, which itself saw huge success. It too reached number one, albeit only for a week.

Take a limo to England v Sweden

Monday, October 24th, 2011

England are to play Sweden on the 15th November. If you fancy a trip to Wembley Stadium, why not get tickets and book yourself a chauffeur driven car to take you there and back?

Although it is only a friendly, there is a bit of history behind this fixture. England haven’t beaten Sweden since 1968, a run of 12 matches. It took goals from Sir Bobby Charlton, Martin Peters and Roger Hunt to secure a 3-1 win at the old Wembley Stadium on that occasion. Since then, there have been eight draws and four losses – something Fabio Capello’s men will want to put right.

The last time the two teams met was in the 2006 World Cup, in Cologne. That was a 2-2 draw thanks to goals from Joe Cole and Steven Gerrard.

It might seem like it could be difficult to attract people to a second friendly in a week, with England playing Spain three days earlier, but that is unlikely to be the case. England’s average home attendance during the Euro 2012 qualifiers was comfortably the highest and a big crowd is expected again for the friendlies.

Club England Managing Director Adrian Bevington said:

“The level of support the England team receives all around the globe is tremendous, and it’s important we acknowledge that as often as we can. They travel great distances, Sofia and Podgorica most recently, to support the team. With these exciting fixtures at Wembley it’s a great chance for us to play in front of our home support.”

Take a limo to see Andy Murray at the ATP World Tour Finals

Sunday, October 23rd, 2011

After winning his third title in a row, Andy Murray has risen to number three in the world rankings and he now has his sights set on ending the year in style with victory at the O2 Arena in the ATP World Tour Finals.

Murray’s recent victories have been impressive. He thrashed the American, Donald Young, in Bangkok, but his defeat of Rafael Nadal in the final of the Japan Open was perhaps even more impressive, ending in a 6-0 final set. Most recently, he beat David Ferrer to take the Shanghai Masters. He also found time to take a doubles title in Japan, alongside his brother, Jamie.

Murray is now looking forward to playing in the UK in November:

“The goal is to play well at the O2 and try to go further than I have before. I’ll do everything I can to get ready for that.”

If you’re also looking forward to that and have tickets for the tournament, why not travel by limo for a bit of extra luxury? A chauffeur driven car takes the hassle out of travelling to the O2 and adds a bit of pleasure instead.

Move fast to ensure you get Coldplay tickets

Saturday, October 22nd, 2011

Coldplay have announced that they will be going on tour for the first time in two years. It is thought that tickets will sell out in minutes, with the O2 gig particularly appealing to fans. With that in mind, act quickly if you want to go and see the band and if you’re lucky enough to be one of the few who gets tickets, make the most of it by booking a chauffeur driven car for the night as well.

The tour begins in Glasgow at the SECC on the third of December and moves to the MEN Arena in Manchester the next night. The band will play the O2 on the ninth of December.

The band has a new album, Mylo Xyloto, which is due to be released this month. The album features the singles Every Teardrop is a Waterfall and Paradise, as well as Princess of China featuring Rihanna.

Speaking to Steve Lamacq on 6Music, drummer Will Champion spoke of being nervous leading up to the release, having finished the album.

“There really is no sense of relief. It’s actually almost worse. It’s the worst time possible just because there’s nothing you can do about it now. It’s like when a child leaves home, well they are out in the world now.”

That radio station voted Coldplay its top festival act of this year, so you are sure of a great live performance.

Catch Hay Fever at the Noel Coward Theatre

Friday, October 21st, 2011

From next February, the Noel Coward Theatre will be running Hay Fever, one of Coward’s comic plays – part farce, part comedy of manners. Featuring Lindsay Duncan and Jeremy Northam, this will definitely be worth catching and it will be worth hiring a chauffeur driven car to take you there and back as well, simply because there’s no better way to bookend an evening at the theatre.

Hay Fever is primarily about the Bliss family – Judith, David, Simon and Sorel – each of whom has invited a guest to their English country house without consulting the others. Judith, played by Duncan, is an absent-minded theatrical type who has retired from being an actress. David, the father, is a novelist working on a book.

On a Saturday afternoon, Judith, Simon and Sorel are acting out scenes from a melodrama with which Judith plans to return to the stage One by one, the guests start to arrive. The first is Sandy Tyrell, a sporty fan of Judith’s, followed by Myra Arundel to meet Simon, a diplomat called Richard Greatham and a dense yet good-natured young flapper called Jackie Coryton. The early scenes are awkward, but as the play progresses, it all becomes more outrageous with much flirtation and outrageous behaviour.

Take a limo to see Paul McCartney at the O2

Monday, October 17th, 2011

Paul McCartney will be playing three UK gigs as part of his new ‘On The Run’ tour. As well as Manchester and his home city of Liverpool, he will be playing one night at the O2 Arena in London.

He may have recently been married for the third time, but Sir Paul is still working hard. This will be an 11-date tour, with the O2 show taking place on the 5th of December with the other two UK gigs to follow. Being as the tour will start in a month, he hasn’t allowed himself much time for a honeymoon.

McCartney said of the tour:

“Playing live is one of the most exciting parts of my job. My audiences seem to get better each year and the band and I love the buzz and feedback that they give us.”

If you want to be part of one of those great audiences, you’d better move quickly because tickets will be in huge demand. He may have been performing for over 50 years, but Paul McCartney gigs are increasingly rare, so you should make the most of this by hiring a limo for the night to get you to the O2 and back. What could be better?

Take a limo to see England v Spain at Wembley

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

England, having qualified for Euro 2012, will be playing Spain in a friendly at Wembley Stadium as part of their preparations for the tournament. The match will take place on November 12th, which is a Saturday.

This will be England’s first match since they qualified for the tournament, which will take place in Poland and Ukraine. It will also be the first time they have played Spain since they won the World Cup in 2010.

The last fixture between the two countries was in 2009 when Spain won 2-0 in Seville. The last home match was in 2007, and again Spain won – on that occasion by just one goal to nil. That match was played at Old Trafford however, so you have to go all the way back to 1996 for the last Wembley fixture. On that occasion, a 0-0 draw in the European Championships led to penalties, with England emerging victorious. Shearer, Platt, Pearce and Gascoigne all scored, while David Seaman saved Miguel Angel Nadal’s spot kick.

If you’re getting tickets for the game, or you already have them, why not also arrange to be chauffeur driven to the ground?

Be chauffeur driven to see Katy Perry at the O2 Arena

Monday, October 10th, 2011

Later this month, Katy Perry will be performing at the O2 Arena. She will be playing two nights, on the 14th and 15th of October. If you’re going, why not arrange for a chauffeur driven limo to drive you there to put the icing on the cake.

The concert is part of Perry’s Californian Dreams tour, of which she said:

“I’m really excited about incorporating the look and the idea of some of the songs on tour and making a massive production of it. I’m gonna want a lot of visuals. I want it to be 10 times better than when I was on tour last.”

The show has a narrative in which Perry travels through Candy Land in pursuit of “the baker’s boy”. It features regular video sequences, showgirls, an Elvis impersonator and at one point a human slot machine. Perry also performs acoustic versions of a number of songs, including cover versions of Jay Z’s ‘Big Pimpin’’ and Rebecca Black’s ‘Friday’.

It promises to be an excellent concert and even if you’re not celebrating a special occasion, a chauffeur driven car will make it one.

Rock Of Ages comes to the West End

Tuesday, October 4th, 2011

There is no experience finer than being chauffeur driven to the West End for dinner and a show. If you’re someone who keeps a close eye on what’s on at any given time, just looking for an excuse for such an evening, you might be interested to learn that the hit Broadway musical, Rock Of Ages, is coming to the West End.

Set on Sunset strip in Los Angeles in 1987, the show stars Shayne Ward and Justin Lee Collins. It was given four stars in The Independent, where it was described as being ‘hard to fault’. The Telegraph and The Guardian were less complimentary (especially the latter), but it also got a rave review in The Daily Mirror.

Rock Of Ages was nominated for five Tony Awards, although it didn’t win any in the end. If you’re in two minds about whether to go or not, the best way of deciding is probably based on the music. The emphasis is on classic rock and glam metal of the Eighties and if that’s your cup of tea, you’re bound to enjoy it, so hire a chauffeur driven car for the night, put on your spandex and book some tickets.
