National Motor Museum launches Bond exhibition

Friday, January 6th, 2012

From January 17th, the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu in Hampshire will be hosting an exhibition of cars from the James Bond films.

Bond is best-known for his Aston Martins and the DBS from Quantum of Solace will be one of the exhibits. However, there are plenty of other cars as well, including the Jaguar XKR from Die Another Day, the BMW 750iL from Tomorrow Never Dies and the Rolls Royce Phantom III from Goldfinger – not to mention the memorable Lotus Esprit S1 submarine.

The AMC Matador from The Man With the Golden Gun will also make an appearance. In the film, Scaramanga’s car is converted into a plane at the flick of a switch thanks to some ingenious modifications. Even the dashboard changes so that there is an altimeter and other relevant aeronautic instruments.

In all, there will be more than 50 vehicles at the Bond in Motion exhibition to celebrate 50 years of James Bond films. The exhibition also marks the 40th anniversary of the National Motor Museum. It will run until December. Adult tickets are currently priced at £10. Children under 14 can get in for £5.

Take a limo to see André Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra

Thursday, December 15th, 2011

If you’re in love with the music of Johann Strauss, you’ll be delighted to hear that the Johann Strauss Orchestra, put together by violinist, conductor and composter, André Rieu, is performing at the O2 on both the 16th and 17th of this month. If you’re lucky enough to have tickets, make sure you also book a limo to take you to the venue. There is no better way to start and end a night out.

Rieu is considered the most popular classical artist in the world at the moment, largely on the strength of his vibrant live concerts. You can expect him to conduct his 60-piece Johann Strauss Orchestra and also play his Stradivarius violin, creating a fantastic atmosphere where the audience is encouraged to waltz in the aisles.

One of the best-selling live acts in the world, André Rieu has also sold more than 30m albums. If you own one and have never been to see a performance, perhaps now is the time to address that. Tickets for the new, second date go on sale on Friday 16th December at 9am.

Rihanna adds tenth night to O2 Arena stint

Friday, December 9th, 2011

Anyone who had been hoping to go and see Rihanna at the O2 Arena and who didn’t manage to get tickets will be delighted to hear that she has added a tenth show, which will take place on the 20th December. If you take this unexpected opportunity, you should also book a chauffeur driven car for the night. It’s worth making a special occasion of it.

Born in Barbados, Rihanna lives in the States now, but her Caribbean roots inform her music and it is her unique sound that has driven her to such stardom. The outfits help too, of course – she has developed a provocative reputation in recent years.

Rihanna has released six albums and 42 singles. Her first album was 2005’s Music of the Sun and her most recent was Talk That Talk this year. That album reached number one here in the UK and gave rise to the single We Found Love, featuring Calvin Harris, which also topped the charts.

If you do decide to go and see her perform live, brace yourself for a show that will be both raunchy and spectacular.

Take a limo to one of the O2’s December sessions

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

The O2 is putting on a month of free gigs. Over the course of 20 nights, there will be over 100 acts performing across a wide range of musical genres. If there’s a night that suits your tastes, maybe it’s worth hiring a chauffeur driven limo to take you out for an evening’s entertainment.

The concerts started on December the 3rd and each night sees five bands perform on a purpose built stage in London Piazza. Many of the bands aren’t so well known, while others are already catching the eye.

Nikki Garnett from Manchester has been attracting rave reviews this year, for example, while The Sea and I is the new project of former Hoosiers frontman, Irwin Sparkes. Belakiss features Ringo Starr’s granddaughter, Tatia, on bass, while Tree Top Flyers were the winners of the Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition.

There’s plenty more on offer beyond the music as well, including a photography exhibition by Carsten Windhorst and a ‘silent gig’ presented by Sennheiser. The O2 is certainly worth a visit in the run-up to Christmas, even if you don’t have tickets to one of the bigger shows.

Celebrate New Year at IndigO2

Monday, December 5th, 2011

If you’re wondering what to do this New Year, why not celebrate with Kiss FM at the IndigO2 nightclub? If you enjoy the Kiss FM Kisstory club nights then this is the party for you. Hire a chauffeur driven car for the night, so that you can arrive (and leave) in style and then dance the night away to Nineties club classics.

There will be a number of special guests, including Strike, who will be performing their classic track ‘U Sure Do’ and Elizabeth Troy, who will perform both ‘Crazy Love’ and ‘Enough is Enough’.

The DJs are Kiss’s Justin Wilkes and Jez Welham. Wilkes has been DJing ever since he got a Fisher Price turntable aged six. He came to prominence in the Nineties house scene in the Midlands and progressed to major venues like Miss Moneypenny’s.

Welham has won the Sony award for being the number one DJ on the radio for young London for the 6th Year running. He presents the Kiss 100 evening show and is also Rihanna’s tour DJ.

If this sounds like your kind of night, why don’t you and your friends book a limo for the night to make sure things get off to the right start?

Book a chauffeur driven car for The Ultimate Office Christmas Party

Wednesday, November 30th, 2011

We’ve reached the time of year when many businesses are organising their Christmas parties. For some, it’s a small, low-key affair. For others, it’s a major occasion that will be talked about until the next one.

This year, Proud2, the club at the O2 Arena is putting on a special event – The Ultimate Office Christmas Party. It promises to be the biggest Christmas party in London this year, so why not book a chauffeur driven car for the occasion. An office Christmas party is one time when pretty much no-one wants to drive and with cocktail and other drink tokens provided with the ticket, a driver wouldn’t go amiss.

Hiring the car of your choice between you and a few work mates allows you to arrive in style as well. You can even have a drink on the way there, ready to enjoy the music. The event promises ‘floor fillers from across the ages’ which means T-Rex, Duran Duran, The Stone Roses and Beyoncé as well as everything in between.

If your firm is letting you down in terms of your Christmas party, organise your own and make it a night to remember.

Book tickets and a limo for the Nutcracker

Sunday, November 27th, 2011

From the 27th to the 30th of December, the O2 will play host to The Nutcracker. Birmingham Royal Ballet will perform the acclaimed show six times in that period. A great family day or night out is guaranteed.

Although initially unsuccessful when first performed in the 19th Century, The Nutcracker has become a hugely popular Christmas show since then. One of the main reasons for this is Tchaikovsky’s score, which has grown to become one of his best known works.

Writing in The Sun earlier this month, Blur bassist, Alex James, waxed lyrical about ballet and The Nutcracker in particular, pointing out that far from being toned-down, refined entertainment, it was positively explosive.

As James points out:

“Ballets were written for the amusement of kings, queens and astronomically wealthy patrons. People who were so bored it took some almighty fireworks to wake them up.”

He goes on to describe how the tunes are so strong that even his three-year-old daughter gets them, adding that she also loved the dancing.

It is sure to be a memorable experience and you could make it even better by hiring a limo to take you and your family there and to pick you up again afterwards.

Hiring a limo for a Christmas party

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

There are many reasons why people hire chauffeur driven cars. One of the most common these days is for corporate use. Businesses will often hire a car to take staff to the airport for a business trip. Equally, they may make use of one to collect visitors from there in a bid to create a good first impression.

Other than that, people will often hire a car for a major occasion. Weddings are what first come to mind, but anniversaries and birthday celebrations are also good reasons to hire a car and driver; hen nights and stag nights also.

Then there’s the point where people’s business and social lives intersect – the office party. Christmas celebrations have become ever more elaborate in recent years and for many people, this annual party is the most significant night out in the year. Call it an opportunity or call it an excuse, this is the perfect time to hire a car and driver.

A chauffeur can deliver you and a few of your colleagues to your destination in style. Furthermore, they can get you home again afterwards, allowing you all to enjoy yourself without one of you having to drive.

Why stomp to the theatre when you can be driven there?

Friday, November 4th, 2011

The internationally successful rhythm and dance show, Stomp, can currently be seen at Ambassadors Theatre in London. If you’ve never witnessed this striking spectacle, book your tickets now and while you’re at it, book a chauffeur driven car for the night as well. Nobody wants to have to drive and struggle to find a parking space when they’re having a special night out.

For those that don’t know about the performance, Stomp revolves around rhythm. Everyday objects are used to make sounds and the performers effectively play them as part of a theatrical show.

You could say that they use everything but the kitchen sink, except for one fact – they do use a kitchen sink at one point. Other makeshift instruments include Zippo lighters, bin lids and plastic bags. These items are flicked, banged and kicked to produce a range of sounds which then serve as the soundtrack.

By turns surprising, innovative and funny, it is a show that is not to be missed. A world tour proved that, with sell-out crowds throughout. Even if you’ve been before, the latest show involves new choreography, so it might be warrant a repeat visit.

Say yes to the theatre and see one of the nation’s greatest comedies

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

Many people steer clear of the West End, thinking it’s all musicals and earnest drama, but that isn’t the case. There are plenty of comedies as well, such as Yes, Prime Minister, which is currently playing at the Gielgud Theatre.

It is 30 years since the classic TV show Yes, Minister was shown, but while this version takes place in the present day, the humour of the original is still as relevant as it ever was. The play is written by the original writers, Antony Jay and Jonathan Lynn, who have introduced contemporary news references and modern technology while retaining the feel of the original.

Jim Hacker and his Cabinet Secretary, Sir Humphrey Appleby, now have to contend with sexed-up dossiers and the erosion of the nation’s ‘special relationship with the US’. Furthermore, it seems like their best hopes of saving the country from financial meltdown involve making a questionable deal with the foreign minister of Kumranistan.

If this sounds enticing and you don’t ordinarily go to the theatre, why not make a real night of it and hire a chauffeur driven car for the night as well. Yes Prime Minister isn’t running for much longer, so it’s worth making the most of this opportunity.
